Fraser Suites Edinburgh has been awarded the Bronze Award as part of the Green Tourism Scheme and is aiming even more medals over the next months.
The property joined the Greeen Business Scheme just a few months ago and has been taking major steps to improve and sustain its environmental performance in a scheme that involves the entire staff at the property. A ‘Green Team’ has been formed to manage existing efforts and introduce new systems to keep the environmental performance of the property at the very highest level. These initiatives will be shared with guests staying at the property.
A ‘Green Team’ has been set up, interestingly, from staff members and no management to allow total freedom of thought. This team will produce its own initiatives for management discussion and is responsible for the agreed actions. And, it doesn’t end there. The Green Team also makes a contribution to the area surrounding the hotel to ensure the area around the historic ‘Old Town’ looks at its best.
Guests have become aware and involved in the project. For example, a recycling station has be introduced in a public area for guests to use and they will be made fully aware of the hotel’s activities plus environmental projects being undertaken throughout the city.
Said Zsolt Jakri, Assistant General Manager, Fraer Suites Edinburgh “ This is brilliant achievement by the ‘Greeen Team’ at the property. We have become one of the very few businesses in the history of the Scheme that are not being revisited after the regular period of two years, and due to the number of ongoing projects and the efforts of the team – after only a few months. This means that by the end of September we will be graded again, and if we keep up the good work, we will be given the Silver Award and then, who knows we’ll go for gold!”
Fraser Suites Edinburgh is a listed building dating back to 1752 which has been carefully restored to provide 75 luxury rooms, suites and apartments. Situated in St. Giles Street, the property is just a stones throw from the Royal Mile and the Castle. It is the company’s first move into the combination of a luxury boutique hotel and serviced apartments. Facilities include a city centre shuttle bus, but most top Edinburgh attractions are within easy walking distance, including the National Gallery of Scotland and Arthur’s Seat. Restaurants, bars, cafés and shops surround the property and the hotel also boasts a signature restaurant ‘The Broadsheet Bistro’ which takes its name from the number of newspapers that were once located in this part of Edinburgh. For keep fit enthusiasts, there is a full fitness suite at the property.
