The event was organised by the Emirates Culinary Guild and the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing attempting to create the highest numbers of Emirati sweet Loukmath (an Emirati sweet dish), an initiative to bring UAE residents closer to Emirati cuisine on 4th January 2013 commemorating His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for becoming a ruler of Dubai. At the event, a Guinness Records adjudicator announced that those who gathered at Meydan racecourse had topped the existing record, which was made in Daejon, South Korea in May 2012.
Dubai currently holds a number of Guinness World Records, one of them which includes the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. In addition, Dubai is also home to the world’s largest shopping mall (Dubai Mall), the world’s largest indoor ski slope (Mall of the Emirates), and the world’s richest horse race (Dubai Cup).
Well done and congratulations everyone!
