Ich bin ein Berliner! Sometimes, you just want to experience a city the way a local does – not as a foreign tourist. You want to get the authentic experience of how local lives in their home city – just Like how you would in yours.

So here’s our top 5 to living it up like a true Berliner:

#1 Mauer Park Karaoke

Belt your heart out! And we’re not talking about standing in front of a bar with low lightings so that nobody can see you. We’re talking about singing to your heart’s content in front of thousands of people. The Mauer Park Karaoke session is held every Sunday in the spring and summer at the amphitheatre located in the centre of the park. People are friendly so go out there and just go for it!

#2 Flea Markets

You’ll never know what treasures you might find rummaging through items at flea markets and two of the best places for that are the flea markets at Boxhagnerstr. and Neuheimat.

#3 Hang out at the local pubs

Simon-Dach-Straße, one of the busiest, loudest pub streets in Berlin, Friedrichshain. If you want to go truly local, find a Spätkaufs (a late-night convenience store that is mostly open 24 hours) and buy a cheap cold bottle of beer.

#4 I Love the Nightlife

The hardest club to get into in Berlin and in the world is the infamous Berghain. Boasting one of the best sound systems in the world, this club is the place to be…if you can get in. Of course, there are other popular places to have a good time in as well such as Wild Renate, Ritter-Butzke, Chalet and WaterGate. We say, as long as the company is good and you’re having a good time, everywhere is a party place.

#5 Food

Berlin is a gastronomy go-to and you can satisfy any food cravings here. However, this is the birthplace of döner. You might see long lines at the popular places BUT the place to get the best döner or dürem is at Hasir on Adalberstr. So make a trip here when you’re hungry.

Now that we’ve shared our tips, enjoy every minute of it. Walk, bike or ride – your Berlin adventure awaits you.
